SUPPORTING THE FUTURE OF THEATRE

By Ellen Prizeman _ March 30th, 2023

We’ve always been a partner to the arts. And theatres are a space where ice cream has always found a home. So, to us, it feels like a natural step to support theatres where we can.

One of our very first customers was Leeds Grand Theatre, one of our locals. Back then, we’d label and fill each and every one of their impulse tubs by hand. They’re still our stockist, alongside many other theatres and arts venues across the UK. Being in theatres was also the inspiration for Little Bloc — an all-natural range of ice cream for children that we released in 2016. Like our core range, we only used the highest quality ingredients.

Back in 2020, we saw COVID-19 was having an impact on the wonderful people making the shows happen. Which is why in 2020 we launched a special, limited edition White Chocolate and Honeycomb tub into supermarkets. The proceeds of this ice cream went towards the Theatre Support Fund+ to help our friends in show business. In the end we managed to raise an awesome £9,000!

This year we’re a proud sponsor of the award-winning Future of Theatre conference. This year it will be held in person for the first time at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. With talks from theatre directors like Carolyn Forsyth, creatives such as Daniel York Loh and a Q&A with The Arts Council England, we’re sure it’s going to be another success!

The conference brings together theatre professionals from around the world and provides a space to have ‘vital conversations, reflect, challenge and share ideas‘ that help create positive change for a stronger theatre sector. And we’re all about making changes for a better future which is why we’re so proud to be able to support Future of Theatre this year.
